eXp is awesome, and I like pretty much everything about it. The support system is terrific. I recently transitioned to eXp and the support system the tools, pretty much everything that they have even eXp World is really really good.

I think the best part is their CRM. I like the training in the eXp world. You could do it anytime if you missed it. You just pick a different time and different day, and you don't have to wait a month or three months. However, some of the exams are not available right away, but it's still better than other brokerages. I think the commission split and fees are fair. The only thing I wish they did is to add an ability to talk to somebody in real-time to get answers. Because currently, you have to actually go to the eXp world and meet somebody there through their avatar, which is quite strange, instead of getting on the phone with them.

I enjoy being with eXp! I love the comradery, the cloud-based business model, their revenue share model and access to work from anywhere with a computer and internet access. They also have weekly meetings and pieces of training, which is useful, especially for new agents. Their commission split is great too (they have a split of 80/20 with a CAP and a monthly fee of $85. I don't mind the fees because of all the tools they provide. If I were to purchase KV Core from my own pocket, it was come out to like $500 and I only pay $85, which is great, especially with all the additional tools provided.

I really like the versatility, especially with the pandemic it is very convenient to be able to do everything online at the comfort of your home. They really do care for their agents! They provide weekly virtual trainings that are helpful & enjoyable! Their commission split is 80/20, startup fee of $500 & a monthly fee of $85 for all the tools provided. It's a great affordable company!

I really love it because of the cloud base structure. The commission split is great. We have an 80/20 with a cap and only pay $85 monthly. I think that's good because all of the tools that they provide, especially the leads! They are great with old and new agents like myself.

I've been with them for three years this month. Before eXp, I was at two different brokerages before (1 I will not name, the other was Keller Williams, which was a great training company). The thing that eXp offers that nobody else had really offered, is that they have the whole package. Because I'm very motivated and driven, I don't need to go to an office, and I can work from 8-5, no problem. This wasn't the main draw though... you have to be invited to join. They're very particular about the people that represent the eXp name. We want the best, and that doesn't mean you have to be the most power-driven person, but it means people who are very ethical who are not just successful on a personal level, but also have integrity. The transparency of the company it's just unsurpassed by others I have encountered. Believe me, before I came to this one after being burned by the last one, I checked everyone out. You will never hear an eXp agent criticize another company, all companies have something to bring to the table. I can go online 24hours a day and see exactly where all my transactions are. The support is just about 24hrs a day if needed. Even in the cloud, you end up building up a rapport with other agents. It seems like it wouldn't be very personable, but it is. When you are in the cloud, it's your voice when you talk to each other. You can hand documents off to each other easily in the cloud, and it's like going to the office without the commute. You don't have to get dressed up if you're sick and want to work. We easily adapt to changes in the market...virtual tours are right in our wheelhouse, and we were already doing that. We are already are a step ahead of everybody else because we do that. You may not become comfortable with the change at first, but you'll adapt very quickly, and everybody's there to help you. So as soon as you get into the world, you can ask at the helpdesk. The leadership at eXp is unlike anywhere else. The split is the same no matter who you are. They give 20 to everybody. The monthly fees are some of the lowest I have seen, and for that, we get a lot more than most people get. They are improving on an ongoing basis, they're continually looking for ways to improve, and they really listen to new suggestions. There's nothing I can say negative. Compliance wise they are on the ball, you can't just beat it. I also love the residuals income opportunity that eXp offers. After 3 years, I have so much stock in this company. And the training online it's unbeatable, and if you can't be there, it's okay because it's recorded, and you can look at it later.

The best part about eXp Realty is the technology, the training, the free stock and the revenue share. The support/office people are always been there for me when I need it. Whenever I go to the eXp world, they're really good at answering.

I'm really happy with them! I receive stock every time I sell something, and I have great administrative support. Agents own a good part of the company, so that is a big shift from other companies. I'm extremely happy with the fees, and the split is higher than what I used to have. We have a virtual campus, so we don't have to go to an office, but we also get a free Regus membership, so if we have to meet someone in-person, we could also do that. They also offer insurance for agents, which not all brokerages do. I think the leadership is good, and the way they focus the business on the agents.

I love the technology and I love the training. kvCORE is awesome. I love that they provide lots of training for free, it's phenomenal. There are HUNDREDS! eXp is better than any broker I've ever been with. As far as leads go, they're all very good.. there are no junk ones because people opt-in. At other brokerages, you get spammy stuff in the middle of the night, but I really don't with this one.

I don't see anything wrong with eXp, I love it, that's why I'm here. I think a lot of agents get into the real estate business, thinking that they're going to have a flexible schedule or unlimited income. Unfortunately, when you're starting, you can't have both. You're going to be working a lot and not making a whole lot of money until you get established. Getting established is the big thing. People need to know who you are. They need to like your message and trust that you're a professional. Once you have that combination, then your business will improve. eXp was already on the virtual model before the other brokerages, so when the virus came around, we were already in the cloud with training and virtual meetings and all that. So when the virus did hit, we already had a leg up on the competition as far as being able to facilitate deals and help clients out remotely. They have tons of training and support. When I was with Keller Williams, we had about 1 or 2 classes a week. With eXp Realty, it's about 10 per day. You can sign on any time to the virtual world and watch it in an auditorium. They let you ask questions, interact, and all that good stuff, so it's very educational. As far as compensation, there is a saying that 100% of nothing is nothing...so if you have a brokerage that's helping you grow anyway, then why does it matter what your commissions or your percentages are. I will say that the splits are better than Keller Williams at this time.

eXp offers the best training, the best technology, and multiple streams of revenue. The training is awesome not only because it's virtual, but it is also immersive. When I log into eXp world, they have over 40hrs of live training every single week. There are so many wonderful things to take advantage of for both new agents and veteran agents. The support is fantastic (they have over 300fulltime employees in different departments, tech support, transaction support, brokerage support, etc.). It's all there, and ever I have problems, I typically get them addressed right away, which is crucial, especially if you're working on a transaction. When I've got a transaction problem, somebody is always there to help, and it gets handled within a minute or two.

I really don't have much to say because I'm relocating this year. I'm on a team, so I have an office staff that handles most of the transaction-related stuff. I'm not super into technology and find the eXp world stuff to be a little confusing. The handful of times I had to find things online, and haven't been able to find it. I'm don't have major issues there, I just haven't used it enough. I am old school, and am used to having an office. I'm moving out of the city, but I'm going to stay with eXp, and I will be more serious with the trainings and other eXp things once I am settled.

The best part about eXp Realty is that it's a publicly held company, so you can make money on your money if you choose to get paid partially in stock. I am a part-time agent, so I have a very different approach to real estate because I have a full-time job, this is just a part-time job for me. They have a lead generation tool so you can request leads as you need them, you can do it or not do it up to you. Other agents are incredibly supportive and helpful, not cutthroat, and it's very supportive.

I like that it is more virtual based, so I don't need to go into an office if I don't want to. The virtual world is called eXp World (it's like an app/talk place). I can even invite my clients to meet me there as well and communicate with me through there instead of me having to go to the office. We can do support as well as training through eXp World. Whenever you have time to do training, you can do it on your own schedule. Right now, due to the pandemic, they're offering a lot of free trainings that we could take advantage of online. The fee is only $85 a month so that is a lot better than some of the others around and the split is 80/20. We have the system as part of the $85 a month that you can take advantage of for lead generation. The profit-sharing is a plus as well. In terms of perks, they have insurance available as well. They have different kinds of options you can choose from, so that is not limited to just one thing or just an individual family. If you're thinking about starting with eXp, know that you'll have freedom. If you have a family, you can work around whatever schedule you want. Unlike other brokerages, you can work from anywhere you have internet access, or even on your phone.

What helped me switch over to eXp was the kvCORE and the ability to have a website and all that. You can use it for lead generation for your business. In fact, I've got several leads that have become a sale since I switched over last fall. As far as compensation goes, I think it's better than some, but it could be better, I guess. They do offer a revenue and equity program. There's so much training online and in eXp World, but I haven't done any of it yet.

Their fees are affordable too. They have a monthly fee of $85 and a commission split of 80/20, which I think is very good compared to other brokerages. eXp is cool. I understand what they're doing, trying to be the future with online shopping and the virtual world. I really think that's fun and interesting! I like team settings better, but there aren't many teams within eXp. You can either be on your own team or work with a team. Usually, it's a wife and husband and one other person. I want more of an office setting and more of an in-person training rather than everything being virtual. I really want more training - on contracts, what are the easiest outlets for capturing leads, and all that good stuff.

I like that eXp is nationwide, has an abundance of resources and has excellent website support. If you want a brokerage with support, eXp is the one to go to with. I am on an 80/20 commission split with a monthly fee of $95, which I think is great compared to other brokerages. All brokerages have some kind of pyramid scheme, but with eXp, they give you the opportunity to make more revenue besides traditional real estate brokerages. They really do care about their agents.

eXp Realty is great. I like the virtual aspect of it all. It makes it easy and convenient to be an agent with the comfortability of being at home. The reason you should join is that the properties are virtual; how cool is that. There are also multiple revenue opportunities, not just selling. Some people might think it's some kind of pyramid scheme, but it's not. They are just trying to help agents like myself, earn extra money. Extra income won't hurt.

They also have a revenue sharing program, where you can make an extra amount of income hiring agents under you!

Not a pyramid scheme...

I really like their extensive training, easy office access, and they also have a lot of agents that are eager for success. A few reasons to join...they are an agent-based brokerage, you can gain stocks within the company, and you can get your commission split back with the different revenue opportunities they provide. It's not necessarily a pyramid scheme, but a lot of people call it that. It's a revenue share program, and it helps agents gain an extra income, which is great!

Revenue Sharing

It's a great company because of the stuff that they offer for the virtual cloud. They have revenue sharing. Their technology is one of the best, it's more modern than a traditional broker. Although, I got initially upset at the website and how it is packaged, once I got that figured out, things got even smoother. EXP is a great option whether you come in on a team or as an individual.

I am used to being drowned with trainings, fees, and meetings with everybody. I almost quit until I met this Realtor, who really took the time and effort to schedule coaching with me. At eXp, The intensity and the genuineness of the support is alive. You may be questioning the amount of training you have to attend every day and the fees you have to pay. But they make sure you will realize along the way that it’s all worth your money, worth your time and effort. They also give you a chance to build your own team and they award you with shares. eXp is awesome.

I'm satisfied with eXp. They have a good commission split and there's the camaraderie with the other agents, we all work together, we all share information. I've been doing this for 19 plus years. And this is the best company I've worked for. With EXP you get a higher split. And, this company is growing so fast. Before you could think of anything, they already made the change. So I think all of my workmates are thinking the same way I do.

innovative

The best thing about EXP is that they're virtual. They are rapidly growing and definitely the most innovative. Their people are scattered around the US and unbelievably good at working in collaboration. The fees are high but they include hours of training and coaching each week, and a video subscription so you can learn anytime, anywhere with no pressure. The commission is 80-100% and we receive stock plus unlimited opportunities to earn our own shares. The only experience so far that I did not like is just that their onboarding process can be more seamless than what it is right now but other than that, I don't have a problem with EXP at all.

Home-based

I like the fact that it is home-based because I am a mom and enjoy working from home. Still fairly new to the brokerage, but I feel good about it. highest paying company out there

It's the highest paying technology-based company out there. The fees are very low. They don't have brick and mortar buildings. It's all online, it's all virtual. I have a good quality of life because of EXP. I can easily make ends meet. EXP is a large company in the US and is just continuously expanding. The only negative I can think of that with such a large company where everybody mostly works and meets virtually, a disconnect between you and your team could happen. It creates conflicts that will affect collaboration. And that is not good.

The best part is it is not a franchise. We are part-owners and get residual income aside from the income from being an agent. I don't do well working from home - that is the only thing I don't like about it. Training is great. Leads are good, and come from KV Core.

Good Training

The best part is that it is a cloud-based real estate brokerage with paperless platform technology. So far, I haven't found anything faulty about the brokerage. Best commission splits

You can't beat a 80/20 split with a $16K cap, then you get to keep 100% above the cap. My first broker charged me 60/40 split plus a $195 transaction fee. I just gave myself a 20% raise by moving my license. The community has ben great. I thought that might be a challenge being virtual, but they make it very easy to connect through the interactive world. Plus we have local meet-ups with the local agents. Also, there are many regional masterminds that are a blast!

Everything you could ever think of, they have online. They’ve got vast technology for realtors. I do not receive leads from the broker. I just do the research by myself. But they have very good rewards when they see hard work. I am part of a team and we get leads from our team lead. Everyone is helpful and encourages everybody to be great at everything they do. Skill sharing is very popular here, making sure we are always ready to face an ever-competitive, ever-changing job market, etc. Commissions are great as far as the brokerage goes. I have no problem with them.

They're very supportive and very caring and helping in every way. Their best asset is their people. This company will inspire you and will not put pressure on you. There is a lot of training to attend to, but I think that is because I am new to this opportunity. The commission is fine, I really haven't earned that much yet, and fees are reasonable. We've been with eXp for over 4 yrs and they supply everything that we need from leads to training. And we pay no fees for that. The commission is an 80-20 split, and if you cap which is $16,000 of commissions, then you get all of your caps back if you do another 20 transactions. Like this year, we celebrated very early as we capped in February. They are so advanced in technology and they have the most user friendly website. It is easy to navigate as long as you alot the time to do it. It doesn't take much effort to learn, and you will find it easy to increase your effectiveness if you take time to learn, attend your trainings, seek out opportunities, feedback, etc. I am happy with eXp and I honestly can't think of anything uncool about them, or anybody in the management.

If you change cities, you don't have to get your license with a different broker. You can stay with this broker no matter where you go. Perhaps you have to get a different test in that state, but you never have to move your license, because they're all over the US, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.

I can say that EXP is a modernized real estate company. It's like blockbuster was before, and now we have Netflix. I don't know how long the traditional brokerages could do more business, I'm not sure how many more years they will be alive because EXP is great in technology. They are the fastest-growing company in history. A lot of agents move into EXP. It’s everywhere. It's like Facebook. There's a lot of groups in it. I think 3 yrs ago, they had less than 5000 agents and now it's 28,000. EXP has gone beyond the US and you can get every one of them in a meeting and sharing ideas and sharing situations to always help you out. It doesn’t matter where you are located, everyone will always be attentive to your needs. They provide so much. There’s no comparison. There's nothing I do not like about my stay here. eXP is a virtual real estate company but they also have a contract with a lot of spaces. They lease a lot of spaces in basically every town, and multiple of them in high rise buildings with a secretary. They are very comfortable spaces which you could use for free. In those places, they are showing systems, give you discounts, etc. They give you a comfortable life and make sure everyone gets a fair share in commission. They give you shares of the company also. eXp will make sure you get the best. And how could you beat that? You have to attend a lot of training which is good, but I find it overwhelming since I’m also engaged with something else other than my being a realtor. But overall, I am happy where I am.

This is a company without politics. They all want you to succeed here. It is remote work, so if you would like to have a lot of time in the office it may be the only thing bad you could ever say.

I like the residuals, the stocks, and the ability to actually talk to people in today's time via virtual reality. I like the pay, the structure, the people, the process, I like the CRM that they provide. With eXp, there is nothing I wish was different. They have health insurance, profit shares, competent commission splits, they have the technology, effective training and events to help you with your financial goals.

EXP provides everything

They provide a lot of applications online, like a virtual reality office, communication, correspondence, meetings, training, conferences.... It's all through the computer! You can actually speak through or show things through the computer. I am so amazed. Commissions are great, you'll make a good living here. And unlike most companies, they are not afraid to change. Our every thought matters and so that gives you the confidence of speaking up your mind whenever you feel something should change. No one is ever superior to anyone, you will always feel valued regardless of what or how much you have contributed for them... It’s really a great company to stay with.

The commission is right there with all the other brokerages. The fees are fine, they are the cheapest around. You've gotta pay some fees wherever you go, no company is in business and don't make money. So as an agent, you have to expect that you will have to pay somewhere and somebody, nothing is free right now. I'm happy, I just wish that there would be more on-the-ground meetings sometimes, like along with the online stuff maybe they can launch a regular meet-up for the local agents for those like me who like in-person training.

Good place to work from home. The commission and benefits are competitive and they have structured policies and polished processes. Virtual team meetings could be chaotic so I became an agent for myself. I pretty much work for myself and my broker is eXp. I don't really have any connections with anybody but that is not necessary for me, and is not a problem for them, as long as I am able to sell houses and perform. They're a big technology company and I'm happy that I was able to learn the system in no time. It is also exciting here as they are constantly advancing and coming up with new ways to do business.

About

About eXp Realty

eXp Realty is much different than the average brokerage. With an agent count of over 25,000 in the US alone, it may come as a surprise that it’s not a big franchise like Keller Williams or Re/MAX – which have offices that are independently owned & run by franchisees.  eXp Realty is currently the fastest-growing brokerage in the US by agent count.

Most eXp Realty agents work remotely from home offices or shared workspaces. The company dubs itself as the “First cloud-based real estate brokerage.”

eXp Realty History

Glenn Sanford founded the company a year after the real estate crash and subsequent financial crisis of 2007 & 2008. Since it was cloud-based, agents could move their real estate practices entirely online. Because of the online model, they were able to provide benefits such as fewer overhead costs, no desk fees, no franchise fees, and high-commission splits. Glenn founded the brokerage on the idea that agents deserve to share in the revenues and also own the company they work to build.

Agents have the option to log into a 3D world – similar to “The Sims” – and do business in this online world.  For those who are not as tech-savvy and just want to be part of a brokerage with good commission splits, accessing the online world is not required.

If you’re drawn to things that are new, innovative, and disruptive, look no further than eXp Realty. They are growing very fast, as evidenced by their climbing agent count. You can also enjoy better commission splits than at other top franchises.

Quick facts to know about eXp Realty

  • Currently, the brokerage operates in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.
  • It’s a publicly-traded company, meaning that real estate associates, brokers, and the public can acquire the stock for themselves.
  • At eXp Realty, there are no desk fees & franchise fees.
  • Agents get to share in the revenues that their recruits bring in up to the seventh tier.
  • The number of agents tripled in 2016.
  • The company dubs itself as the largest brokerage in the US in terms of geography.

eXp’s Revenue Sharing Model

As an agent at eXp Realty, you’ll have three main ways to earn your income:

Commission: Like most brokerages, the primary income agents earn is based on commissions of home sales from buyers and sellers they represent.

Passive income via revenue share: Revenue sharing kicks in after you sponsor a new agent to join the company. There are up to 7 tiers, and you receive up to 3.5% of the revenue generated by a first-tier agent. The revenue share amount per agent is capped at $2,800 yearly. Having more recruits means more money coming your way in passive income.  Though revenue sharing remains somewhat controversial, it’s not a novel concept. Keller Williams adopts a similar model.

Selling company stock: Agents may obtain the company’s stock at a discount. They are also rewarded through shares after hitting certain caps. Selling the shares at market prices might generate additional income.

eXp Realty Commission Split & Transaction Fees

eXp is a full-service brokerage, meaning that they offer agents lots of support and tools. Their split is at 80/20, and it’s capped at $16,000 per year. Once the agent hits the cap amount, they keep 100% of their commission and will only pay transaction fees for each additional transaction.

Working at eXp Realty

Many agents like that eXp gives them the chance to become owners in the company through stock rewards and discount purchases. Other common themes are good team support, bountiful resources, helpful classes, & great technology.

eXp Training, Resources & Education

With the savings brought about by not having unnecessary locations, the company has invested in offering agents many training & educational resources.

Here are some of the programs:

  • eXp eXpand:   More experienced agents can volunteer to mentor new associates.
  • Weekly live training: You’re always learning at eXp Realty thanks to the events, classes, and meetings hosted in the virtual eXp World. Sessions are facilitated by top producers and experts. You’ll learn about lead generation, company technologies, making sales & listings, and more. In the virtual campus, you can walk around with your avatar and join classrooms. You can even ask questions to the instructors during the live sessions.

FAQs

It’s quite cheap to become an agent at eXp because the brokerage doesn’t have many fees or overhead costs in the first place. Agents just pay about $150 as the initial fee. On-going monthly costs include $50 for the tech and $35 for the eXp campus.

Fewer fees & startup costs: Don’t pay franchise fees or desk fees. Plus, the commission splits are attractive.

Participate in the stock purchase program: You can use 5% of your commission check to buy the company’s stock, offered at a 20% discount.

Collaborate internationally & nationally: With agents in all 50 states and global locations, you’ll provide clients with added value, for instance, connecting them with international buyers.

Revenue sharing: Passive income means that you can still earn money on the side.

Discounted healthcare: Participate in the eXp Agent Healthcare program for low-cost insurance.

Working remotely from home and never having to set foot at the office may not provide the comradeship enjoyed by agents at brick & mortar agencies. Communicating in-person might pose a challenge, as eXp agents socialize & collaborate through the Workplace tool provided by Facebook.

Some people have also complained of the aggressive recruiting efforts by some eXp agents, who may be out to increase their passive income instead of focusing on helping their clients sell or buy homes.

Find a local agent who is already a member who can refer you.  Or simply go to the eXp website.

Because some of the agents who work for eXp recruit aggressively, many people compare it to a pyramid scheme. That said, it isn’t a pyramid scheme. Pyramid schemes generate money through the contributions of the recruits. It does follow a similar revenue share model to a multi-level-marketing company, though.

The company is well-known for its many tech tools.

eXp Enterprise: Agents use it to access all the tools, resources, and technologies the company has to offer.

KvCore & Kunversion CRM: The system comes with features such as lead management,  mass emailing, Craigslist marketing, etc. Agents can also create eXp branded websites where visitors can search MLS Listings directly. The best part is that KvCore is offered free of charge to all eXp agents.

SkySlope: eXp agents get access to SkySlope to manage transactions. SkySlope enables users to sign documents digitally, track emails, phone calls, and more.

Making it rain: An advertising program that enables agents to drive paid advertising via search engines to generate buyer and seller leads.

eXp World: eXp World is the virtual campus that allows agents to collaborate, attend virtual training, find information, and more. An eXp agent can invite you to view the world for a couple of days, even if you’re not a member of EXP.  It’s very easy to use, and is meant to help emulate a bustling office environment.

Marketing & branding tools: Like most brokerages, eXp gives you access to logos, signs, customizable marketing materials, flyers, social media assets, etc.

Their split is 80/20, and it is capped at $16,000 per year. Once the agent hits the cap amount, they keep 100% of their commission and will only pay transaction fees for each additional transaction.

Before you hit the yearly commission CAP of $16,000 (paid to eXp), you’ll not pay any transaction fees, only $40 for E&O and $20 for broker review. After reaching the cap, eXp may grant you up to $16,000 back in company stock. There are some requirements you must fulfill to get the $16,000:

  1. Sell 20 more homes after hitting the cap amount OR earn at least $500K in gross commission income from at least ten transactions and pay a qualifying fee equal to $5,000 less capped transaction fees paid.
  2. On each subsequent transaction, after achieving your cap, there is a fee of $250 per transaction. Once you have paid $5000 in transaction fees (on about 20 transactions), you switch to paying a transaction fee of $75.
