Best Online Real Estate Schools in South Carolina

south carolina real estate commission logoThe South Carolina real estate market has some of the hottest suburban listings in the south. Over the years, more and more people are flocking to the Palmetto State, moving to areas like Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville. While the interest is far from peaking, there aren’t as many licensed agents across the state, so there are plenty of potential clients to be swooped up.

If you’re looking to get in on this, it’s important to know that a successful career path starts with your real estate education. That’s why getting inside knowledge from industry experts is crucial when deciding where to start. In fact, making the right choice for your real estate school is one of the most important choices a new agent can make!

Our in-house real estate experts spent hundreds of hours researching, scoring, and ranking the top South Carolina real estate schools.  Our experts also took into account the ratings and reviews from thousands of Agent Advice agents who have taken the courses themselves.

We’ve ranked and rated each school on 8 different factors to come up with the very best real estate schools in South Carolina. The top factors considered are:

  1. Course value
  2. How easy the courses were to navigate
  3. If there were any technical glitches
  4. Return policies
  5. Overall performance of each school as a whole
  6. Reviews directly from agents who’ve attended the school

There are dozens of options (some of them not so great!), so we’ve taken the work off your plate by narrowing down the list to only the ones that scored high enough. Whether you’re dedicating yourself full time to your new career, are looking to fly through the courses quickly to get them over with, or are busy and looking to work through them when you have downtime, here is a list of the best online real estate schools in South Carolina you should consider.

The CE Shopce-shop-logo

The CE Shop is a real estate school that opened in 2005 and currently offers pre-licensing, post-licensing, and continuing education services across different US states, including South Carolina.

Although they are a newer real estate school, they’ve received numerous awards and recognitions from institutions across the US. Their courses are also accredited by The Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) and approved by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission.

Course Content

The packages offered by The CE Shop are Courses Only, Standard Package, Value Package, and Premium Package. All courses come with several business books you can only access online, a schedule to better plan your time for studying, digital flashcards, resources and opportunities to advance your career, and instructor-led webinars on each of the exam topics.

The remaining content of each course is as follows:

Courses Only

As its name suggests, this package contains only the two mandatory pre-licensing courses:

  • SC 60-Hr Unit I Salesperson Pre-licensing Course
  • SC 30-Hr Unit II Advanced Real Estate Principles Course

Standard Package

This package contains the 90-hours of pre-licensing needed in South Carolina. It also includes exam prep, which helps students prepare for the national and state licensing exam. Another key feature, is the Pass Guarantee. Just as the name suggests, students can get their money back if they don’t pass the final exam. That perk alone is why this package is a student favorite.

Value packageThe CE Shop Lesson 1 Quiz Screenshot

This package includes everything the Standard Package includes. However, it adds in three business courses as well to help students plan for success after getting their real estate license. With this feature, students can build up their network or begin searching for future clients, they can get tips on how to build a successful business from the ground up, and they can take a course to see if commercial real estate is right for them.

Premium Package

The Premium Package is even more inclusive, adding an extra bonus. If students choose this package, they also receive a 10-hour education renewal opportunity. This is a major plus in the state of South Carolina, because the real estate commission requires agents to brush up on their education every two years. With this package, the cost of the first 10-hours are already included, which can save you time and money when it’s time for your first renewal two years later.

Individual Courses

The Unit I and Unit II course can also be bought separately.

Exam Prep

The CE Shop currently offers an exam prep for both portions of the exam – national and state. They can be purchased separately, or both as a package, so students can focus on the area they believe they need to improve on.

Each of the exam prep packages contains practice exams, instructor support around the clock, a breakdown of each topic into individual lessons, and a real-time dashboard which visually tells you how ready you are for your exam.

Ratings & Reviews The CE Shop Test Activity Type Screenshot

The CE Shop currently has 40 reviews on our reliable review page, where schools can’t pay to have their reviews removed. Out of these reviews, only two students have had negative experiences, while over 30 have had a positive experience with The CE Shop. Here is one of the 4-star reviews they have:

“I thought the test prep was really good. I felt like it portrayed the actual exams as best as they could without violating the state restrictions. I had failed my first time thinking I was prepared, but for the second time, I was able to see the questions I got wrong and study those sections. I did pass my second time around, thanks to the test prep. I highly recommend it.”

What are the best parts?

Studying with The CE Shop means you’re getting all the study resources and aid you need. Every course comes with a long list of tools that break down everything you need to know. The CE Shop makes sure they are easy to access and manage as you begin to study. The Real Estate Glossary that is also provided helps students learn the terminology of the industry, so all students will get everything they need to pass the exam.

In addition to this, three of the four packages offered also provide access to business-building courses, so students will also get help with starting their business after obtaining a license.

What are the worst parts?

One of the few complaints about The CE Shop was directed towards the lack of interactive parts in the courses. Some students would prefer seeing more video lessons and fewer repetitions in the materials.

Return policy/cancellation policyThe CE Shop Course Schedule Chart Screenshot

Although AceableAgent is a relatively newer real estate school, their courses are accredited by both The Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (The Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) and The International Distance Education Certification Center (The International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC)).

Course Content

AceableAgent only offers one package to students in South Carolina. The package covers both units required by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission, including the following:

Unit I: The South Carolina Real Estate Principles and Practices Course – 60 hours

This course includes a number of topics that future real estate agents need to get familiar with in order to be successful in the industry. At the end of the 60-hours, they will learn about real estate ethics, contracts, brokerage relationships, and how to settle closings.

However, that’s not all. They will also be responsible for having a solid understanding of real property, real estate laws, pricing, and real estate financing.

During Unit I, students will need to pay close attention, because they will be tested on their knowledge of all 8 of these topics during the exam.

Unit II: The South Carolina Advanced Real Estate Principles Course – 30 hours

In these 30-hours, students can find out where their strengths and weaknesses lie in the industry, as they get to test the waters a little bit more. They still are responsible for learning about ethics, contracts, disclosures, and valuations, however, they also get to dive into specialty topics. They can see if they have any interest in fair housing, real estate technology, or if they have a knack for commercial real estate in Unit II.

Ratings & Reviews AceableAgent Practice Exam Screenshot

The reviews left for AceableAgent’s services on Agent Advice average 4.06 stars based on 35 reviews, so previous students are happy with what they received from AceableAgent. Here is one of those reviews:

“It was good! I liked that I was able to get my license online! It did let me flexible & I really did learn a lot. The only suggestion I’d give is to make it more user friendly so that we can locate the resources more efficiently and include even more videos. Other than that, I thought it was a good price & I would recommend to a prospective agent.”

What are the best parts?

The courses offered by AceableAgent are developed by experienced professionals from the real estate world and endorsed by highly regarded names from the real estate sphere.

In addition to this, AceableAgent gives people the convenience of studying anywhere and at any time thanks to its app. It currently holds a 4.7 rating on the Google Play Store and a 4.9-star rating on the App Store, which shows that it has proven to be useful for most students who used it.

What are the worst parts?

The most common critique about AceableAgent’s course is the availability time. The course is available to students for only six months, a period of time many students found too short.

Another aspect where they can improve is the course delivery method and interactivity. PDF textbooks can sometimes be a struggle to read, so students have indicated this as a potential flaw of the school.

AceableAgent Learning Objectives ScreenshotReturn policy/cancellation policy
