Best Online Real Estate Schools in Oklahoma

oklahomaAmerica’s housing market is currently booming. In Oklahoma, the value of houses has risen 14% over the last year alone. Oklahoma City is experiencing an especially big boom, which is mainly due to the many condominiums and townhomes that have recently come onto the market. However, even with the increase in supply, the demand in the market is still higher, and as a result prices continue to rise.

And yet, despite all of this, the state still has one of the most affordable markets for homeowners in the country.

These trends mean that the current market is lucrative for home sellers and their agents. As such, this is an excellent time for Oklahomans to get into the real estate business as an agent. But just because the current market is tipped in your favor doesn’t mean success will be served on a silver platter.

If you’re looking to get in on this, it’s important to know that a successful career path starts with your real estate education. That’s why getting inside knowledge from industry experts is crucial when deciding where to get your real estate license in Oklahoma. In fact, making the right choice for your real estate school is one of the most important choices a new agent can make!

Our in-house real estate experts spent hundreds of hours researching, scoring, and ranking the top Oklahoma real estate schools.  Our experts also took into account the ratings and reviews from thousands of Agent Advice agents who have taken the courses themselves.

We’ve ranked and rated each school on 8 different factors to come up with the very best real estate schools in Oklahoma. Some of the top factors considered are:

  1. Course value
  2. How easy the courses were to navigate
  3. If there were any technical glitches
  4. Return policies
  5. Overall performance of each school as a whole
  6. Reviews directly from agents who’ve attended the school

There are dozens of options (some of them not so great!), so we’ve taken the work off your plate by narrowing down the list to only the ones that scored high enough. Whether you’re dedicating yourself full time to your new career, are looking to fly through the courses quickly to get them over with, or are busy and looking to work through them when you have downtime, here is a list of the best online real estate schools in Oklahoma you should consider.

Real Estate Expressreal estate express logo

Founded in 1996, Real Estate Express market themselves as the lead RE school in Oklahoma with over half a million students to date. They offer both pre-license and post-license courses, both of which are ARELLO certified and fully approved by the state’s real estate board.

Packages:

Real Estate Express offers 4 separate packages at various prices for asynchronous learning. From the cheapest to the most expensive, the packages are:

  • The Basics: This package includes a 90-hour pre-license course plus 3 educational E-books and access to a support line where you can work with a live instructor if you need additional help. This package is best suited for those who are already familiar with the ins and outs of real estate and are just looking for a bit of brush up.
  • Exam Preparation: This package includes special preparations for the exam in addition to all the content from the previous tier. This package is for those with a basic knowledge of real estate who are primarily focused on passing the final exams.
  • Exam Preparation Plus: On top of previous perks, this package includes the Live Exam Crammers series and your required 45 hours of post-license courses. This package also includes a copy of the “Real Estate Dictionary” and access to a Q&A session with an instructor as well as a copy of the “Real Estate Dictionary”. This is recommended for students who perform best with more individually focused courses.
  • Ultimate Learning: Ultimate Learning combines the Exam Preparation Plus package with a 90 day boot camp and a physical textbook. It also includes a 1-year membership in the school’s professional development program. This is the most comprehensive package, starting with the most basic principles of real estate and continuing all the way to the point where students are prepared to launch their professional career.

Pass rates:

While no data is available specifically for Oklahoma, on a national scale Real Estate Express boasts an impressive 78% percent pass rate, far above the national pass rate of roughly 50%.

Reviews:

The Real Estate Express reviews are mostly positive, boasting raving comments on multiple outlets.

Positive reviews indicate that the course delivered on all that it promised with strong exam preparation, helpful instructors, and a strong feedback system which allows students to learn from mistakes and retry failed assignments.

Most of the school’s bad reviews come from students who were unable to properly navigate the site to activate their account. Others complained that the courses consist almost entirely of plain text and fail to visualize concepts or engage students through interactive activities. Several students complained that there were a distracting number of typos and grammatical errors scattered throughout the materials as well.

Best part of Real Estate Express

  • Variety in packages: With 4 separate course tiers, you will most likely find program suited to your budget and educational needs.
  • Affordable: Compared to similar real estate schools, Real Estate Express is a bit cheaper. They also host frequent sales, making their programs some of the most affordable in the state.
  • High pass rates: The school offers a multitude of study materials and access to state-approved instructors to help you if you get stuck.
  • Pass Guarantee: For all of the packages except basic, the program includes a “pass or no pay” guarantee, making the course a low-risk investment.

Shortcomings of Real Estate Express

  • Online only: The school offers no physical classes, meaning those who lack technical knowledge or struggle with learning at home should look elsewhere.
  • Outdated study methods: The emphasis on text based learning and the lack of interactive materials makes for a very dry course. As such, students who struggle with focus issues will want to steer clear of this program.
  • Not compatible with mobile: While the materials can be accessed on mobile platforms via your preferred web browser, there is no mobile app, or even a mobile display for the browser. As a result, the course is buggy and less accessible on mobile devices.

Return/Cancellation Policy

Real Estate Express offers a full refund within the first week of beginning a course or within the first month of purchasing it.

Additionally, for all tiers except The Basics, the school offers a pass or no pay guarantee, which allows students to claim a full refund should they fail the final exam after completing the course.

The CE Shopce-shop-logo

The first thing The CE Shop wants you to know are their core values: giving back, having fun, respecting others, maintaining transparency, and contently improving. Founded in 2005, the school offers exclusively online courses for pre-licensing, exam prep, post-licensing, and continuing education.

Packages:

The CE Shop offers 4 tiers of study courses:

  • Courses Only: This package provides your basic 90 hours of pre-licensing courses.
  • Standard Package: This package includes 90 hours of pre-licensing education as well as two exam prep courses for the state exam and the national exam.
  • Value Package: This course includes everything that the Standard Package does as well as a Building Business course that will help you find your footing in the market after passing the exam.
  • Premium Package: In addition to all the materials offered by the previous tiers, this package includes 45 hours of post-licensing education.

Each tier includes various study materials, including educational Ebooks, digital flashcards, a convenient study schedule to keep you on track, and more.

Additionally, the school offers over a dozen continuing education courses. Each course is only a few hours in length, and students can purchase these courses individually or in a 21-hour bundle at a discounted rate.

Pass rates:

Once again, no data is available for Oklahoma’s pass rates, but on a national level, 75% of the CE Shop’s students pass on their first attempt, while 91% pass by their third attempt.

Reviews:

The CE Shop has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Students report that the courses are engaging and clear and they provide all the knowledge you need to pass the exam. Students also liked the open nature of the courses which allowed them to work around their schedules.

Of the few negative reviews, almost none complained about the content of the course. Instead, most were centered around the school’s refund policies, which many students found to be overcomplicated. Some also reported bad experiences with the school’s technical support and help lines.

The CE Shop Study Schedule Screenshot

The best parts of the CE Shop include:

  • High Quality: The course presents information in a clear and engaging way while offering a fully comprehensive real estate education.
  • High pass rates: With 91% of students passing by their third attempt, the school delivers some of the highest pass rates in the country.
  • Flexibility: As an asynchronous course, students are free to work at their own pace and focus on the topics that they struggle with instead of being tied to a class schedule.

And now, the things that could be improved:

  • Only Asynchronous: The school does not offer any live lessons, virtually or physically. There’s not even an instructor to contact if you struggle with a topic. As such, students who struggle with self-learning should avoid this program.
  • Complicated refund policy: The requirements for requesting a refund vary depending on which state you’re in and which program you purchase. As a result, there are many reports of people feeling cheated after attempting to cancel a course.

Refund Policy:

Students in Oklahoma can claim a refund on pre-licensing and post-licensing courses within 30 days of purchase provided that they have completed less than 50% of the course. If you take the exam prep course as a standalone course, the refund must be requested before completing the initial assessment or within 30 days of purchase.

While the school does offer a pass or don’t pay guarantee, there are several requirements that must be met to claim it. The student must have completed every topic’s exam with a score of 80% or higher 3 separate times. They also must have completed at least 3 practice exams for both the national and state portions. Finally, a copy of the exam receipt must be provided as well as a copy of the exam results with a clearly labeled date of completion.

If the exam course was purchased standalone, then your full purchase will be refunded. If it was purchased as part of a package, only the exam prep cost will be refunded, not the full course. It’s also important to note that the pass or don’t pay policy is only valid for your first attempt at the exam.

VanEdvaned logo

VanEd states their mission is to provide an education that meets the needs of all students as well as the requirements of the real estate industry. The company has served over 150,00 students since its conception in 1997.

Packages:

VanEd only offers one pre-licensing package. This includes 2 courses, one on national principles, and one on Oklahoma state-specific laws, and both courses include a free prep course for their respective exams. The package also includes live instructor support, digital flashcards, a downloadable eBook, a personal academic advisor, and a copy of the Real Estate Glossary.

There is a second package which bundles together their pre-licensing course with the required 45 hours of post licensing education. Post licensing education can also be purchased separately, albeit at a higher price. Additionally, the school offers a variety of CE courses, which can be purchased individually or in one of their several 21-hour discount bundles.

Both packages offer a free 5-day trial with full course access, allowing prospective students to test out the course and figure out if their learning style is compatible with the materials before committing to the school.

Pass rates:

While VanEd claims to have the highest pass rates in Oklahoma, no numbers are publicly available regarding their pass rates on a statewide or national level.

Reviews:

VanEd’s reviews are almost entirely positive on AgentAdvice. Students praised the school’s helpful instructors, comprehensive materials, and well-focused exam prep. Many praised the ability to work at your own pace within the course, and many agreed that the course delivered on all that was promised. A few critics pointed to the dry delivery of the course, which lacks interaction and fails to take full advantage of its digital format. A few also complained about the lack of a pass or don’t pay policy.

VanEd’s strengths include:

  • 5 Day Trial: Perhaps the strongest selling point of the school is their 5-day free trial, which allows students to test out the course before investing and committing to the course. If you don’t feel like their curriculum is a good fit, you can cancel your course at no loss.
  • High pass rates: According to their website, VanEd boasts the highest pass rates in the entire state of Oklahoma.
  • Work at your own pace: The course’s asynchronous format allows students advance through the course as quickly or as slowly as you want, allowing you to spend more time focusing on the subjects that you personally struggle with.
  • Live support: The instructor support line was cited by many students as a lifesaver, with several students going as far as to say they wouldn’t have passed their exam without their instructors’ help.

man studying for licensing exam

While some areas that could use improvement include:

  • Lack of variety: With a single asynchronous pre-licensing package, the school fails to account for varying budgets and learning styles.
  • Dry delivery: The lack of exciting activities or engaging presentation indicates that this course is a poor choice for students with focus issues.
  • No pass or don’t pay policy: Despite offering several exam prep courses, the school does not offer any refund in the event that you fail your exam as many schools do.

Refund Policy:

The refund policy at VanEd is straightforward: you have 72 hours following the purchase of any course to request a refund provided you have not completed any tests or completed more than 50% of the course. While 72 hours may seem like a relatively small window, when combined with the 5-day trial period, VanEd actually offers one of the most forgiving grace periods of any RE school in the state.

Oklahoma Real Estate AcademyOREA-LOGO

Pass rates:

No data is available for Oklahoma Real Estate Academy’s pass rates at state or national level. All that their site states is they deliver “some of the highest pass rates in Oklahoma.”

Reviews:

After searching all of the top review sites, we were unable to find a single negative review for the school. Students across the board praised the school for catering to their needs. Whether their course was asynchronous, in-person or hybrid, every student says that their instructors were helpful and they left the course feeling prepared for the exam. The course successfully engaged students and delivered the promised results.

The strongest selling points of the Oklahoma Real Estate Academy include:

  • Variety in courses: With asynchronous, hybrid, and in-person options, the school is guaranteed to offer a program that suites you and your educational needs.
  • High quality education: This schools offers more study materials than any other school on this list, with various books, practice tests, videos, and instructors giving students a multitude of ways to comprehend and absorb the information.
  • Interactive materials: Whether you’re in-person or online, the course takes advantage of its formats to deliver varied engaging and interactive study materials that help keep students focused.
  • Localized Education: Unlike other schools which operate on a national scale, OREA only operates within Oklahoma, meaning their materials are fine tuned to the state requirements and there is greater opportunity for a more personalized education due to their smaller scale

As for the downsides:

  • High Cost: With the exception of the basic package, which is comparable to other schools’ pricing, the courses offered by OREA are by far the most expensive on this list.
  • Lack of info: Their website leaves out quite a bit of information; most importantly, their pass rates and refund policy.

Refund Policy:

As previously stated, the school’s refund policy is not publicly stated. This doesn’t mean they don’t have one, but if you are considering the school, you may want to reach out and ask before you commit. The school also fails to offer a pass or don’t pay policy.

Conclusion:

Hopefully, this article has given you a better idea of what each school has to offer. But as for which school is best, ultimately, we can’t decide that. Your budget, learning style, and long-term goals all play an important role in figuring out which school is the best fit for you as an individual.

Real Estate is an extremely lucrative market, but it also requires lots of dedication and skill. Whichever school you choose, remember that your success is ultimately in your own hands.
