Both platforms promise to replace your entire real estate tech stack. Both have IDX websites, AI features, and automation. Here’s my take on how to cut through the marketing and figure out which one is actually built for where your business is going.

My Quick Verdict: BoldTrail and Lofty are the most direct all-in-one competitors in real estate CRM right now, and they’re closer in capability than the price difference suggests. BoldTrail has the edge in MLS coverage, back-office functionality, and brokerage-level scalability. Lofty competes hard on AI lead generation and marketing automation, particularly for teams that need aggressive outbound tools. For most brokerages and growing teams, BoldTrail’s infrastructure is the stronger long-term foundation, but Lofty is a legitimate alternative for smaller teams focused on lead volume over operational depth.

Overview: What Each Platform Actually Does

BoldTrail-PrimaryLogo-FullColor-Layered

BoldTrail is the upgraded version of kvCORE, relaunched by Inside Real Estate in June 2024. It is a comprehensive real estate operating system that bundles IDX websites, CRM, lead capture, Smart Campaign marketing automation, back-office tools, commission management, and recruiting features into one platform. BoldTrail integrates with 600+ MLSs across North America and is designed to scale from solo agents to multi-office brokerages.

  • All-in-one platform for agents, teams, and brokerages. Includes CRM, IDX websites, Smart Campaigns, lead generation, back-office management, and recruiting. Formerly kvCORE. Integrates with 600+ MLSs.

Lofty (formerly Chime) is also a comprehensive all-in-one platform, with particular emphasis on AI-powered lead generation and marketing automation. It offers IDX websites, CRM, 33+ built-in lead generation methods, AI follow-up, and automated marketing campaigns. Lofty’s differentiator is the depth of its AI Workforce, with autonomous follow-up agents that engage leads without human intervention, and tools like Lofty Bloom for hyper-local neighborhood advertising.

  • AI-powered all-in-one platform for real estate teams. Includes IDX website, CRM, 33+ lead generation methods, AI Workforce automation, and cross-platform marketing. Formerly Chime. Strong focus on AI-driven lead engagement.

Pricing Comparison

Neither platform publishes full pricing publicly, which makes comparison shopping difficult. Both require a sales call to get a real number for team and brokerage plans.

BoldTrail’s solo agent pricing typically starts around $499/month. Team and brokerage plans scale with seat count and features and require a quote. eXp Realty agents get BoldTrail included in their monthly tech fee at roughly $85/month total, which is a significant value for that segment.

Lofty’s pricing is estimated to start around $449/month for individual agents, with team and enterprise plans scaling significantly higher. I’ve seen some larger team configurations run $1,500/month or more depending on the lead generation add-ons selected. Lofty also sells add-on tools like its Home Evaluation Page ($70/month) separately. Like BoldTrail, you’ll need to contact sales for team pricing.

The pricing gap between them is narrower than it used to be. For teams evaluating both, the more important comparison is what’s included at each price point and BoldTrail’s back-office tools, commission management, and recruiting module add meaningful value that Lofty doesn’t match at similar tiers.

  • BoldTrail Pricing:
    • Solo agent (starting): ~$499/mo (estimated)
    • Team / brokerage plans: Quote required
    • eXp Realty agents (included in tech fee): ~$85/mo total
    • Add-ons: Priced separately
  • Lofty Pricing:
    • Individual agent (starting): ~$449/mo (estimated)
    • Team / brokerage plans: Quote required
    • Add-ons (e.g., Home Evaluation Page): +$70/mo
    • Enterprise configurations: $1,500/mo+

BoldTrail: What It Does Well

BoldTrail’s depth is its defining advantage. Beyond the IDX website and CRM, it includes back-office tools for commission management and brokerage operations, a recruiting module, and performance dashboards that give team leaders real visibility into individual agent activity. For a growing brokerage trying to consolidate technology vendors, BoldTrail can genuinely replace five or six separate tools.

The platform’s Smart Campaigns handle behavioral automation well, with website activity, search patterns, and lead engagement all feeding into the CRM and trigger personalized follow-up sequences. AI-powered lead scoring helps agents prioritize the contacts most likely to convert. MLS coverage at 600+ integrations is the broadest in the category, making BoldTrail viable for agents and brokerages operating across multiple markets or regions.

The trade-off is the setup investment. BoldTrail rewards teams that configure it intentionally. Agents who treat it as a simple contact database won’t see the ROI the platform is capable of delivering.

BoldTrail Pros

  1. Most complete all-in-one stack. CRM, IDX website, lead gen, marketing, back-office, and recruiting, which is more functional depth than competitor at a comparable price point.
  2. 600+ MLS integrations. The broadest coverage in the category; essential for multi-market brokerages.
  3. Back-office and commission tools. Built-in features Lofty doesn’t offer, which eliminates the need for a separate back-office platform.
  4. Brokerage-grade scalability. Designed for teams of 10 to 1,000+ agents with oversight, lead routing, and performance tracking built in.
  5. eXp Realty value. For eXp agents, BoldTrail’s inclusion in the monthly tech fee is one of the best deals in the category.

BoldTrail Cons

  1. Learning curve. The platform’s depth requires intentional onboarding. Teams that skip setup underutilize what they’re paying for.
  2. No hyper-local ad automation. Lofty’s Bloom neighborhood advertising tool has no direct BoldTrail equivalent.
  3. Team pricing requires a quote. Not published publicly, which adds friction to the evaluation process.

Lofty: What It Does Well

Lofty competes hardest on the AI and lead generation side. Its AI Workforce includes autonomous follow-up agents that engage, nurture, and re-engage leads without human input, and is more advanced than BoldTrail’s automation for teams that prioritize outbound lead volume. Lofty Bloom, its hyper-local neighborhood marketing tool, automates geographic farming in a way BoldTrail doesn’t match natively.

Smart Plans handle drip and behavioral campaigns well, and the IDX website integrates tightly with the CRM for behavioral tracking. For smaller teams with a high focus on lead generation and AI-driven engagement, Lofty’s toolset is genuinely compelling.

The limitations are in operational depth. Lofty doesn’t offer back-office or commission management tools, has no recruiting module, and its MLS coverage is narrower than BoldTrail’s. Teams that need those features will need to add separate platforms, which both adds cost and reintroduces the integration overhead that an all-in-one is supposed to eliminate.

Lofty Pros

  1. Advanced AI lead engagement. The AI Workforce autonomously follows up and nurtures leads, going further than most platforms in reducing manual follow-up work.
  2. 33+ built-in lead generation methods. More lead gen variety than most all-in-ones, including tools like Lofty Bloom for geographic farming.
  3. Strong marketing automation. Smart Plans and cross-platform marketing campaigns are well-built for teams running high lead volumes.
  4. Focused IDX and CRM integration. Website activity flows cleanly into the CRM and triggers appropriate follow-up sequences.

Lofty Cons

  1. No back-office or commission tools. Brokerages need a separate platform for commission management and operations which adds cost and complexity.
  2. No recruiting module. Brokerage growth tools are outside Lofty’s scope.
  3. Narrower MLS coverage. Less suited for multi-market operations than BoldTrail.
  4. Pricing is opaque and expensive at scale. Enterprise configurations can reach $1,500/month or higher without a clear public price to evaluate against.
  5. Former Chime reputation. The rebrand from Chime to Lofty is relatively recent, so some legacy reviews and community sentiment may reflect the older product.

Who Should Choose BoldTrail vs. Lofty?

Choose BoldTrail if you are… Choose Lofty if you are…
  • A brokerage that needs back-office, commission management, and recruiting alongside CRM and IDX
  • A multi-market operation requiring broad MLS coverage across regions
  • An eXp Realty agent who gets BoldTrail at dramatically reduced cost through the tech fee
  • A team that wants the most complete operational platform and is willing to invest in proper setup
  • A team that prioritizes AI-driven lead engagement above all else and doesn’t need back-office tools
  • A geographically focused team running neighborhood farming campaigns with Lofty Bloom
  • A smaller team focused on lead volume and automated nurturing with minimal operational complexity
  • A team that wants aggressive AI outbound with less concern for brokerage-level infrastructure

So Which Is It: BoldTrail or Lofty?

For most brokerages and growing teams, BoldTrail is the stronger platform, but not because Lofty is weak, but because BoldTrail’s operational depth covers more of what a scaling real estate business actually needs. The back-office tools, recruiting module, and 600+ MLS integrations represent real value that Lofty doesn’t match, and they’re features that become more important, not less, as a team grows.

Lofty is a legitimate choice for teams with a specific profile: strong focus on AI-powered lead generation, no need for back-office infrastructure, and a geographic concentration that makes Lofty Bloom relevant. If that’s your business model, Lofty competes seriously.

In my opinion, the mistake to avoid is choosing Lofty because its AI marketing features look impressive on a demo and then discovering 90 days later that you need commission tracking and a back-office platform that it doesn’t provide. Get clarity on what your full operational requirements are before committing to either, and if that list includes anything beyond CRM and lead generation, BoldTrail is likely the right call.
