It was fine, but a little boring. I felt ready to take the Indiana state exam after taking the class though. There really aren't that many real estate school options in Indiana, so if you need to get your license, this is one of the main places people go.

About Indiana Real Estate Institute

Do you want to embark on a real estate career, and need to find a real estate school in Indiana? For over 25 years, Indiana Real Estate Institute (IREI) has offered approved & regulated real estate courses.

Dan Miller, the initial founder, had his sights set on creating a world-class real estate school to serve students from the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area.

Brian C Lee, the current director, started out as an instructor in 2005 before taking over as the owner in 2013. He has grown the school into a modern institution committed to the success of its students. Sarah Ragsdale recently joined him in 2021. She now serves as the primary instructor for the pre-licensing course.

Quick facts about Indiana Real Estate Institute

  • Founded in 1992, IREI is the longest-running real estate school on Indianapolis’s south side.
  • The school offers courses to students statewide, with most learners coming from Central Indiana.
  • In-person classes run at the IREI’s location at Wormgirl Krafty Kreations, 1 Southport Area, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
  • The school’s motto is “Begin. Continue. Grow”.
  • IREI has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 2001 and presently holds an A+ rating.

Which courses are offered at Indiana Real Estate Institute?

  1. Broker pre-licensing

Students enrolled in the pre-licensing course complete a 90-hour program over the course of 12-weeks. After completing the course curriculum, there is a final course exam with a minimum passing score of 75%.

You may choose to take the course online or in person. The in-person broker pre-licensing class runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for 12 weeks all together.

The online program is self-paced, allowing students to complete it on their schedule. It also comes with online study sessions where the primary instructor sets up virtual meetings to discuss the critical details of the course or answer questions.

IREI offers additional study materials, including quizzes, guides, and handouts that allow students to better prepare for the state exam. They don’t have any bonus exam preps that students need to purchase.

  • Broker Post-licensing

Newly licensed agents must take and pass a 30-hour post-licensing course within the first two years of licensure. You can complete the class online. Alternatively, IREI provides the in-person broker post-licensing course two times per year.

  • Continuing education

After completing the initial 30 hours of post-licensing education, real estate agents may be required to complete about 12 hours of continuing education each year.

IREI hosts live speakers for their continuing education courses. Students can also complete the online CE courses at their own pace. You can purchase individual courses or 5-course bundles at discounted rates.

How is the learning experience at the school?

IREI offers a positive and supportive learning environment. Past students have praised the school for its excellent in-person classes that include open question sessions at the end of each class.

One student who attended the in-person program liked that the students came from different backgrounds, which contributed to out-of-box thinking during question sessions.

The online learning experience is equally engaging and exciting. While some schools require students to complete the course by reading a boring PDF document, IREI offers an immersive classroom experience with pre-tapped classroom videos. The instructors host live-study sessions where online learners can ask questions and receive an almost instant reply.

Why Choose  Indiana Real Estate Institute?

  1. Flexible learning options: Students can select between the in-person and online class options. They’re both offered at the same price.
  2. Public servant discounts: Public servants (military members, teachers, firefighters, and police officers) can qualify for a discount.
  3. In-touch and caring team: Brain and Sarah are present engaging, entertaining, and fully committed to helping students meet their goals.
  4. No extra cost for exam prep: You don’t need to pay extra for exam preparation materials.
  5. Acclaimed instructors: Brian has had over 20 years of experience as a real estate broker and professional appraiser. He brings his real-world experiences to the classroom. Although she started her real estate career in 2015, Sarah has quickly grown to a top producer and brings a new dynamic to the learning.

Are there any reasons not to choose the school?

Well, the schedule is not flexible and accommodating to different learners. For instance, you can only attend classes on Mondays and Wednesdays for the next 12 weeks. Some schools have more flexible learning schedules by allowing students to select between day and evening classes.

We have also noted that IREI has not made all aspects of its service clear such as the availability of a refund policy when students change their minds. Although it is not necessary to the outcomes, they don’t have a guarantee such as promising to refund students if they don’t pass the exams.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the pass rate of the Indiana Real Estate Institute

PSI Exams administers the Indiana Real Estate Commission License examinations. Unfortunately, they don’t avail the pass rates for individual schools for each year. Schools that report on their student’s success collect their statistics independently by asking for feedback. IREI has not made such statistics available.

  • When will I complete the pre-licensing course at IREI?

You need to attend in-person classes for the next 12 weeks to complete the pre-licensing course at IREI. If you plan to finish it sooner and are not hindered by a day job, you may consider the self-paced online course.

  • Does the school offer pre-licensing training in another state?

IREI only offers pre-licensing, post-licensing, and CE courses in Indiana.
