Which courses are offered at Donaldson Educational Services?

Currently, Donaldson Educational Services offers pre-licensing courses in three states: Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.  

Louisiana

To obtain a Lousiana real estate salesperson license, students need to complete 90 hours of real estate education courses. The exam consists of 80 national questions and 55 state-specific questions. Students need to answer correctly at least 56 questions from the national part and 40 from the state part. 

Students can access Donaldson’s salesperson course for 30, 60, or 90 days, which comes at a different cost.  New classes start monthly at Metairie, Northshore, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport/Bossier City campuses. They are held throughout the day, morning only, afternoon only, and evening classes for convenient scheduling.

Mississippi

In the 60-hour pre-licensing course, students will learn the basic real estate fundamentals, including state laws and regulations. Once they take the course, students need to apply to take the exam. The licensing exam consists of  80 national section questions, of which the student needs to answer 56 correctly, and 40 state section questions of which 30 need to be answered correctly. 

Alabama

donaldsonStudents will learn basic real estate fundamentals in the Alabama pre-licensing course, including state laws and regulations. After completing the 60-hour course, students need to pass the course exam with at least 70%. Once they do this, they can apply for the Alabama Real Estate Salesperson Licensing Exam and pass it with a minimum 70% score. 

Donaldson offers three ways to take their pre-licensing course: 

  • In-person version: Students can attend in-person classes on Metairie, Northshore, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport/Bossier City campuses.
  • Virtual campus version: It allows students to attend the classes through live online sessions. 
  • Online version: The online course is self-paced and uses a combination of textbook materials, practice questions, and review compact discs. 

Real estate post-licensing

Louisiana 

After obtaining a salesperson license in Louisiana, students need to fulfill a one-time post-licensing course approved by LREC and ARELLO. The 45-hour course covers real estate concepts such as agency, listing, contracts, real estate law, financing, broker and sales agent relationships, anti-trust issues, technology, and appraisal. 

Mississippi

Individuals who have been issued a real estate salesperson license in Mississippi must undertake a post-licensing course within two years after their licensure. It entails completing 30 hours of MREC and ARELLO post-licensing courses. 

Real estate broker license 

Louisiana

instructor helping student learnTo become a broker in Louisiana, students need to take 150 hours of approved courses and have been a licensed salesperson for at least four years, with 2 of those having been with an active status.

The broker exam comprises 80 national and 55 state-specific questions. To pass, students need to correctly answer at least 60 questions from the national portion and 40 from the state portion.

Continuing education

The post-licensing course package offered by Donaldson Educational Services has 12 hours of LREC approved continuing education. Specifically, three courses are included: 2021 Mandatory – Basics of Investment Property and Property Management, Real Estate Best Practices, and Property Measurement & Pricing.
