I am a teacher and a friend told me a part time real estate career would be perfect for my summers off. I agreed and she told me this school is where my journey would begin. She insisted I go here. I am so glad I did. As a fellow teacher, I can tell you these teachers know what they are doing. It was a great combination of teachers - Kelby, Michelle, Bob and Renee each had their own style while being masters of the material you need to learn. Kelby was kind and very passionate about real estate. Michelle was fun, lively and really entertaining. Bob and Renee are both lawyers and had stories with great details and examples of how to follow the laws. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you!!

This is a great school. First, the teachers are great. Kelby is a AWESOME teacher who is patient and willing to help you in any way she can. She really does care about you and your success. Michelle is very lively, fun and smart. Second, they help you meet brokers and tell you what specific questions to ask so you choose the right one for what you want to do. No other school I talked to had recruiting events for you to attend if you wanted to with all different brokers. Third, I got to meet a bunch of new people who will also be in real estate. Fourth, the staff here is super kind and always got back to me right away. I would absolutely recommend this school to school to everyone!!

I loved loved loved my experience here! I did the 75 hour two week class and graduated on Friday. I'm going to take the state text next week. All of the teachers know there stuff and teach directly from the heart. They truly care about each student. I got to meet a lot of people and different brokers too. Can't wait to get my license and to see what they have planned for Continuing Education.

GREAT course!!! Took this class for two weeks. They had evening classes too, but I wanted to get it over with. I picked this school because this is the only one on the area that has been around for over 30 years. If you have been teaching real estate to people for that long you must be doing something right! and they sure do get it right. All the teachers Kelby, Michelle, Bob and Renee really know what they are doing and make it very fun. Don't think its easy because it is not. You have to work too.

Kelby, Michelle, Renee and Bob are the best team of instructors! They all have so much knowledge and experience which they relay to students with great enthusiasm you can't help but get really excited about starting a career in real estate. Passed the test no problem on the first try. Everything on the test was taught in class. Also really liked they had job placement assistance and lots of great tips and questions to ask real estate brokers when interviewing. I am very happy that I choose this school for my real estate course.

About The Real Estate School

The Real Estate School has had a long-running history –  Founded in 1976,  it’s much older than most real estate schools.  Its current owner, Don Haven, taught at the school before deciding to acquire it in the  1990s.

The school’s virtues include integrity, quality education, and transparency. It is an independently owned school while similar-sized schools have been gobbled up by large nationwide education companies. The freedom that comes with not being affiliated with a particular brokerage, means that students undertaking the pre-licensing course can have the autonomy to go with any brokerage they wish without any interference or bias.

Quick Facts About The Real Estate School

  • The Real Estate School has been operating for over 40 years.
  • It is an independent real estate school with no affiliation to a brokerage firm.
  • Classes are taught at Camden County College.
  • They have dedicated staff to handle customer inquiries.
  • It’s one of the most recognized schools for real estate education in New Jersey.
  • They have helped over 10,000 students to date.

Courses offered

search-5386972_1280New Jersey & Pennsylvania Pre-license Course

Heads up! By enrolling in the pre-licensing course for New Jersey, you can also receive your license from Pennsylvania. There is one point to note. The NJ portion of the course doesn’t deal with Pennsylvania law, but you’re required to cover the material at your own time. After completing the pre-licensing course, you can sit for both exams.

In the past, the New Jersey Real Estate Commission mandated students to take the pre-licensing course in-person (classroom). But in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, the commission took a drastic turn by allowing online courses. Some schools have taken to offering live video conferences as a mode of learning during this difficult time.

Supplemental Courses

For agents who may hold licenses elsewhere, they can sign up for the 15-hour supplemental course. It qualifies them to complete the NJ state exam.

Broker Course

After working as a sales associate broker for a while, you might want to become an employing broker, which would allow you to launch your own brokerage. Brokers need to have significantly more knowledge and expertise than the agents under them. It means taking more comprehensive courses.

The core education requirement to become an NJ broker is the 90-hour general broker course.  Two additional courses are needed including “Office Management and Agency & Ethics”. Before enrolling or qualifying to sit for the broker exam, you must have been working as a sales associate for three consecutive years.

Continuing Education

Taking CE classes often feel like an inconvenience, but the school aims to make the experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You’ll need about 12 credit hours for license renewal. There are core, elective, and ethical topics in the  CE package they offer as a two-day program. You get all the credit hours required for NJ and PA license renewals.

What is the school like?

With New Jersey mandating students to obtain all their lessons in-person, you can look forward to spending at least two weeks or more in a classroom setting. The Real Estate School offers day and evening lessons. The quickest way to finish the prelicensing course is taking the day classes that run for two consecutive weeks from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Former students report that they’ve enjoyed the class sessions, and the instructors have been noted for keeping the information current, engaging, and employing plenty of real-life examples.

The school will let you try out a class for free. See their website for details or even contact support for more information.

Why do students choose The Real Estate School?

feedback-2824577_12801) Broker-agnostic: The school doesn’t push students to choose brokerages they have partnered with. They are extremely transparent. Instead, they ensure that all brokerages have equal representation. Each month, the school hosts several recruiting events.

2) Extensive experience: With over 40 years of direct experience teaching real estate, you will be taught using proven models.

3) Qualified, and dedicated instructors: They don’t have agents teaching the courses part-time. The school believes that this may water down the quality of the education. Instead, they hire dedicated instructors whose main interest lies in the classrooms and with their students. Currently, they have two full-time teachers, and also invite real estate attorneys to teach as guest instructors.

4) Free resits: Can’t remember all that was covered in the last lesson, or have you been away from class for a considerable time? The school offers free resits. You can pop into class and refresh your knowledge on key topics.

5) Affordability: Some schools charge over one thousand dollars for live classes. That is not the case at The Real Estate School. Their competitive rates also include other extras like textbooks.

The Real Estate School FAQs

The main course runs for two weeks. The evening class takes place over 10 weeks with students only meeting for two nights a week.

The pre-licensing course prepares you for licensure in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For PA, you’ll need to complete the law topics for PA separately.
