What do I like about Kaplan? Absolutely nothing. They are a company of scammers who utilize a faulty test-taking system and refuse to address it.

Their test-taking system was so problematic. The system was literally changing my answers. I would go between questions to review and see that the system had auto-saved answers that I did not select. Their technical support team admitted that was the case at times but then started ghosting me when I asked for a retake or a resolution. They want me to pay for and take the class again even though it was because of their system that I failed. It has been over 2 weeks since any response from their technical support team.

Please don't utilize this scam for your education. Kaplan is untrustworthy, unreliable, and do not care about their students' success.

I really can’t think of anything I liked. I think that this course has so much improvements that need to be made.

They need more video content for people like myself who learn better visually

I took 2 practice exams today and they both timed out on me even though I was actively moving my mouse around trying to avoid this from happening. There is no way I was stuck on my question for 20 minutes because I had just gotten to this question. Now I only have one more try before I have to retake the course. I’m so sad because I was so certain I was going to pass both exams I took today. This is a flaw that needs to be fixed!

Also, you should allow more practice exams before forcing someone to retake the course.

This has been such a waste of my time.

Their reading materials are well-written albeit a bit long and redundant.

Easy to purchase and manage courses.

I've run into many errors within their system. In one course, the final quiz of my unit wasn't ready. The system said no questions had been generated and it took their support team 4 days to get the issue resolved with a lot of back-and-forth.

Their final exam for one unit was changing my answers. I contacted the support team and they said that scrolling can change your selection. Seriously? Why wouldn't I be scrolling and going back and forth between questions.

Their test questions are either badly written, don't make sense, or are unhelpful to your success in real estate brokerage.

Their test system doesn't match up to course instructions. After failing the first exam, you're supposed to take at least 3 days to study and retry but the system doesn't reinforce this.

I recommend using a different test prep course.

Kaplan is so professional. It is easy to complete your education online at your convenience. In classroom education is very good also. You won't leave with any unanswered questions. I like that Kaplan is flexible and straight forward. These are the things you need to get done and you can make it work to your time frame. I felt some of the exam prep was tedious and I couldn’t find the best way for me to prepare effectively. You get as much out as you put in.

I liked the fact I was able to do it at my own pace. This real estate school was inexpensive, and the content was very thorough. I think it was good overall and doesn't need any major changes, but they should just continue to make sure they are keeping the content up to date with the policies & legislation. If you choose doing courses online, make sure that you are a self starter, because otherwise, you won't get done on time. Technical support was great. I was able to call & get any issues fixed in 15 minutes.

However, I wish that you could see what you miss on the tests. I hate that I could not see it.

The system was very easy to use and effective! I have not been someone to be self taught when learning new things but I was able to this time and I feel it was due to the resources provided. Kaplan really needs to talk about the practice tests that are in their system and figure out how to get to them to improve them. Make sure you do the practice tests!

I like that I was at home and that I could pace myself to my liking. I also liked that I was able to watch the videos when I wanted to, and the curriculum was not complicated at all. The only thing I'd suggest for them to change is the powerpoints and the background. They were all the same, and it would be nice to see a bit of change throughout the course to make it more entertaining. I would advise that you be prepared, thorough, and that you put in the time to complete it.

Compared to a lot of my friends' schools, mine was the easiest out of all of them. The program had all the right material I needed for my exam, and it covered almost everything that was on the national and state portion. While taking the courses, don't think too hard about things because it will get frustrating. Especially at the beginning because the first two courses are super long.

I liked that I could use an actual book, and it wasn't all online. The curriculum was just about right, and it was entertaining and interesting. I'd suggest working through the information quickly, only because after a while, the information usually is forgotten. It's better to get through it quickly and take the exam shortly after. It was a very good price, and it was definitely worth it.

I chose Kaplan for my Real Estate CE on a whim. I found the online portal to be intuitive and easy to use. I enjoyed the option to download the course and read at my own pace rather than having to sit and click page by page to get through the class. This made a huge difference in my ability to absorb the material. I will choose Kaplan for my future real estate continuing education. I had the best experience out of the four or five times I’ve had to take continuing education courses for my profession. Keep up the good work!

The cost of Kaplan is competitive with other education providers. I found the method of delivery to be effective for my learning style, and I was able to quickly complete the courses with a solid understanding of the material. I would not recommend this as much for agents who are auditory learners, unless there is an option for videos or live classes.

Only take the course if you need someone to read to you power points, which are required to fill up workbooks they provide for their own proctored exams. I am better off reading this information myself at my pace. Waste of time and money.

Kaplan really needs to give us access to the power points. What is the point of you providing us the workbooks if we are gonna end up with some blanks here and there? I don't see the point in that, it's a course we already paid you for. Rip off

I liked that it offered Online courses and that you could schedule your own proctored tests. It made it so much easier not to have to wait for an assigned Proctor.

There were several instances where the person on the video would say the exact opposite of what was on the screen. There was even a paragraph in the book that was referencing a buyer agent when it should have been sellers agent (or the other way around. I don’t remember now).. I sent all of this to them in my feedback during the course. I never got a response. Very disappointed at the lack of professionalism.
I also did not like that some of the material was in the book and not in the videos or vice versa! Given that this was a self paced virtual course, it seemed to me that everything should have been covered in print and in video. That way people with different learning styles could could still get all the same information.
The mistakes in the material mentioned above were the biggest concerns for me though. I would NEVER recommend this course!

Take Champions courses instead of Kaplan!

The study groups were very helpful and the instructors were great always prompt on answering questions and returning emails.

The customer service side needed more people bc wait times were long. On the proctor side I believe a few more people would have helped bc we would have to wait several weeks to take our tests it was hard.

Overall the education was great. I passed the exam the first time

The class was very effective. I liked that they gave us both practice textbooks online and a physical version. Although I thought they were very long and didn't need to dive into some sections, they helped me leading to exams. Be sure to take it all seriously because it doesn't take to long to complete if you're determined enough. Furthermore, before the licensing exams, take the test prep and study, and you should be fine.

Course is well designed from an information stand point, videos are helpful. The tests allow you to come back if you do not have time to finish. However, THIS APPLICATION IS HORRIBLE. IT WILL CONSISTENTLY "TIME OUT" (aka not save your work and make you start over), It takes over an hour to finish a 30 question test because the system will freeze and become unresponsive. This is the biggest waste of money and time, I wish I could go back and just do the in-person classes. I was going this route so I could complete after I get done with my day job; not worth it in the slightest.

I would like to encourage you not to buy this course. It is more headache than it is educational.

Everything was thorough in every aspect, but I do wish there would've been better instruction on how to use the website, tasks we needed to do, in what order, and how to do them. It was also expensive, in my opinion, but it's a lot cheaper than going to an in-person school. The only thing I'd say they need to include is more interaction options like zoom calls or videos. That way, it's more entertaining and helps visual learners.

Very easy to use online, but due to my lack of experience with their courses I cannot offer much advice on how they compare to other agencies. The one I did take went well and the instructor was informative, thorough and great.

They should add a disclaimer to their BICUP courses that this will not satisfy the 12 hour Broker In Charge Course that is only offered by NCREC.

The description of their BICUP course made it seem like it would satisfy part of my 12hr BIC course that is only offered by NCREC. I completed the online/OnDemand (NOT live) portion and went back to research what it would take to finish the NCREC 12 hour requirement and learned that the course offered by Kaplan was not at all what I needed. I called back for a refund and although they suffered no loss and the course portion I completed cannot be used whatsoever towards any of my C/E requirements, they refused to refund the entire amount and only offered me a partial refund even though I explained the above. I even added that they would lose a customer for life and they did not care. I will never recommend this to anyone of my three real estate companies that conduct business in 3 different states or use this agency for anything in the future. I did all the work and lost all my time and I am the only one that suffered a loss. They would not even give me a credit toward next years C/E requirements. Not the type of company I like to do business with. I would understand if I could have used the Course towards 2022 CE requirement, got a future credit or took the live portion where a teach put in the time, but that did not happen. I get nothing unfortunately.

Could stand for improvement

I opted for Kaplan’s online real estate education. I want to start by saying I loved Rolfe Kurtyka in the online lectures--I found him to be invaluable and a great educator. However, I experienced bad communication from the more local course contacts right off the bat, that got me off to an unfortunate start--I read 1.5 textbooks I shouldn't have before being guided to the right one to start with, due to a misspelling of my email address and confusing syllabus instructions.

The videos and questions asked thereafter do not always match up. The course outlines you are asked to fill out and chapters also do not match up, which is counterintuitive to the learning process and frustrating. Workbook reference figures sometimes don't exist. Random question boxes popped up in the courses unannounced that don't apply. The final exams I took have variations of questions that I had not seen before, which I feel shouldn’t have been the case--they should have come up in some variation in quizzes before. As someone else mentioned, 5%(-8%) of the “correct” quiz and test answers are actually incorrect. One example: "The timeline is July 1 through September 30--with THIRTY days in each month [...]." In another example, Net Loan Proceeds are a debit to the broker, but in a T/F question in a Unit Review Test, the "correct" answer is that it's a credit to the broker. It makes you wonder to what degree you’re learning things as wrong or right.

You're also only given a limited amount of chances to pass practice final tests OR there is a limited amount of questions in the bank-- this could stand for improvement to really increase our chances on the big exam day. If I hadn't been collecting previous test questions diligently on the side, I might not have been as poised for later success. Also, I believe if I had not taken free real estate exams found online after completing my Kaplan coursework, I wouldn’t have been properly prepared—especially as relates to the National Portion math I was met with on exam day. Overall, I wish I had researched courses to see which were better rated, because $1,115 is a big commitment of funds. I am not satisfied with my investment, though I did pass my licensing exam with 134/154 correct the first time (which I suppose is the point after all). This is by a big effort of my own, however. I would encourage others to shop around before investing in Kaplan for this course. They are great for other subject matter, I have heard. This course could stand for improvement, in my opinion—some updating, as others have said. I would advise others to be wary.

In my opinion, the curriculum was a bit boring, and I had a lot of tech issues that weren't resolved as fast as I wanted them to. Another thing that can be adjusted is the tests, and it was frustrating that we had to take them repeatedly until we got all the questions right. It made it very difficult that in the end, I wouldn't even care about retaining the information, I would try to get the answers right and continue onto the next chapter. I would say to do all your research on which school would be beneficial to you.

They did have a good structure & practice testing did help a lot to retain all the info provided. They had awesome resources which I recommend to use them all & study as hard as you can. I think if you're considering getting licensed online, to find the best option according to price & reviews. If you're more of a hands-on type of person & you have the money, go to an in-person school. I did go through Kaplan because I have used it before & I was already familiar. Kaplan is perfect for me, because I am able to manage my work schedule with my studying time. It gives me time to take care of the children and my chores.
