  • You must be 18 years or older

Then you must take the following steps:

  • Apply for your license online through the TREC website or via mail and pay the applicable fee.
  • Get your fingerprints and background check taken. You must pass the background check to become a realtor.
  • Submit your qualifying education. Realtors must take a course for 180 hours of real estate education. Once the course is completed, applicants will have to submit proof that they took and passed the course.
  • Take the exam. Applicants will then have to take and pass the state real estate exam.
  • Find a sponsor. After completing the steps listed above, you will be given an inactive license. The license will be activated when you find a sponsor. Sponsorship requests can be submitted through the TREC website. Once someone accepts your request, your license will become active.
